San Giacomo (2° domenica di agosto)
A San Giacomo, compatrono di Geraci, il popolo geracese ha sempre tributato grande devozione. La festa ricorre, secondo il calendario liturgico, il 25 luglio, ma per antica tradizione ha luogo la seconda domenica di Agosto nell'omonima chiesa che sorge vicino al castello.
Dopo la solenne Messa, celebrata nella Chiesa Madre, il Santo viene collocato su una apposita “Vara".
E' vestito a colori vivaci ricamati in oro, aureola 1n testa, bastone argenteo nella mano destra e un libro nella sinistra.
La "Vara" è parata a fiori con spighe di grano e primizie di stagione.
Nel primo pomeriggio inizia la processione.
La Confraternita di San Giacomo al completo precede tutte le altre. Seguono la Statua, la banda e i fedeli tutti.
Alla fine della processione il Santo rimane nella Chiesa Madre sino al 24 Settembre.
La serata si conclude con uno spettacolo in piazza.

ST. JAMES (2ND SUNDAY IN AUGUST)
To St. James, co-patron saint of Geraci, the people of Geraci have always paid great devotion. The feast falls, according to the liturgical calendar, on July 25, but by ancient tradition it takes place on the second Sunday of August in the church of the same name that stands near the castle.
After the solemn Mass, celebrated in the Mother Church, the saint is placed on a special "Vara."
He is dressed in bright colors embroidered in gold, halo 1n his head, silver staff in his right hand and a book in his left.
The "Vara" is paraded in flowers with ears of wheat and seasonal first fruits.
In the early afternoon the procession begins.
The full Confraternity of St. James precedes all the others. They are followed by the Statue, the band and the faithful all.
At the end of the procession the Saint remains in the Mother Church until September 24.
The evening ends with a performance in the square.
